What we prepare

Every return New York
can throw at you.

New York is one of the most complex tax jurisdictions in the country — state, city, UBT, MCTMT, and the residency rules that trip up everyone who’s ever split time between boroughs and anywhere else. This is our home turf.

Individuals

Personal tax returns

Form 1040 with NYS IT-201 — for W-2 earners, freelancers with Schedule C, landlords with rentals, and investors with K-1s and crypto.

Businesses

Business tax returns

1120-S, 1065, and 1120 with all NYS and NYC filings — including the NYC Unincorporated Business Tax (UBT) and GCT where they apply.

Planning

Year-round tax planning

Entity choice, S-corp elections, retirement contributions, timing of income and expenses — modeled in June and December, when moves still count.

Quarterlies

Estimated tax payments

Federal 1040-ES and NYS IT-2105 vouchers calculated from your actual year-to-date numbers each quarter — not last year’s guess.

Representation

IRS & NYS representation

Audits, notices, penalty abatement, payment plans, offers in compromise, and unfiled back returns. We talk to the IRS so you don’t have to.

Residency

NY residency & multi-state

Moving in, moving out, working remotely for an NYC employer — we handle allocation, the 183-day rules, and residency audits.

Common questions

Tax FAQs

How much does a CPA cost for tax preparation in NYC? +
Standalone personal returns typically start around $450; business returns vary with complexity. For monthly clients, annual returns are included in the fixed fee — no separate April bill.
I haven’t filed in years. What happens now? +
More often than you’d think, less than you fear. We pull your IRS transcripts, reconstruct income, file the back returns, and pursue penalty abatement. Most clients owe far less than they imagined — and sleep much better.
Should I be an LLC or an S-corp? +
It depends on your profit level, payroll costs, and goals — there’s a real break-even point, and we calculate it with your actual numbers rather than a rule of thumb. The analysis is part of every business engagement.
What is the NYC Unincorporated Business Tax? +
The UBT is a 4% NYC tax on net income of unincorporated businesses (sole proprietors, partnerships, many LLCs) operating in the city, above an allowance. Plenty of self-preparers miss it — or overpay it. We handle it as standard.
Can you represent me in an IRS audit? +
Yes. As CPAs we have full representation rights before the IRS and New York State. You sign a power of attorney; we handle the correspondence, the meetings, and the negotiation.
